Students in World History learn about Renaissance

This week in Ms. Beckett’s World History classes students were learning about women and family life during the Renaissance. Students were asked to compare the role of men and women in Renaissance society to today’s standards. Then, students created their own dating advice column for Renaissance readers. They included letters to the editor, descriptions of their first dates, and a “Top 10” list. For instance, one list entitled “10 Things Women Should know to Impress a Man” included qualities such as: beauty, cleverness, ability to read and write well, know how to dance and sing, and know how to perform household duties. The students did a great job thinking creatively about the social status of men and women in the Renaissance. Clearly, none of the ladies wanted to take a time machine back to the Renaissance - they are enjoying their equal rights here in America
