Former DR Graduate Finished Four Year Football Career at Springfield College

Former DR Graduate Mike MacDonald, class of 2010, just completed his four year football career at Springfield College.  He was named to the 2013’s all east team this past week for his efforts on the football field this past season. MacDonald, a two time captain and four year starter was also named to the New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England team. At the team banquet held this past weekend, MacDonald received the Howard Resnick Memorial Award which is regarded as one of the most prestigious team awards.

Twenty-eight players representing 21 different teams were named to the regional team, which will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 12, at the Montvale Plaza, in Stoneham, Mass. He is slated to play in two Division Three all star games in Virginia and Alabama in January

This season MacDonald anchored an offensive line that averaged just over 300 yards per game on the ground, which ranks seventh best in Division III. Earlier this season, MacDonald was named to the Liberty League All-Conference First Team. While at Dighton- Rehoboth, MacDonald was an all SCC all star, Sun Chronicle, Taunton Gazette and Boston Herald all star. He also played in the North- South Shiners’ football all star game.
