In Ms. McCabe's Biology class, students were testing for Calorie content in various foods. Students had to burn the food so it heated up a sample of water. Using the change in temperature, the change in mass and the specific heat of water, students will calculate how many Calories are in the various food samples. Students Molly DaSilva and Emily Cloutier (shown below) are trying to ignite their food sample. Students really had fun with this experiment and noticed that the fattier foods produced more heat because they have more Calories.
