Financial Aid for Seniors Information

Seniors,

All seniors planning on filing for Financial Aid should be working on and completing the FAFSA (required by all colleges) and the CSS Profile (only required by some colleges) as soon as possible.  Some colleges have financial aid deadlines as early asFebruary 1st, so make certain you are checking your college websites. Do not procrastinate! The sooner the better.  Sometimes colleges run out of money to give to students who wait.

Here are the links to this process: http://studentaid.ed.gov/fafsa  &  http://student.collegeboard.org/css-financial-aid-profile

FYI for Additional Support:
FAFSA Day Massachusetts:  On Sunday, January 26th at 1pm and Sunday, February 23rd at 1pm in several locations free individualized assistance is being offered to students and families seeking help to complete the FAFSA.  Visit www.FAFSADAY.org for additional information, dates, and times.

Also, in regards to financial aid.  The link to MEFA's financial aid guide for seniors is here http://www.mefa.org/seniors/  Its very good.

Also, http://www.studentaid.gov has a Repayment Estimator that is a great tool for estimating what your monthly loan payments will be based on what you borrow.

Lastly, scholarships are beginning to come in.  They are located on the guidance webpage as well as on the bulletin board in guidance.  Most of them have Feb. through April deadlines, so don't delay taking advantage of these opportunities.

Information about the CSF door to door campaign and scholarships is forthcoming.
