Sports Recap 1/16- swimming, wrestling, and hockey

The girl’s swim team competed against Foxboro last night and, by winning the last relay race, won the meet in the most exciting competition to date.  The 4 by 100 relay team, consisting of Kaitlyn O’Connor, Caroline DeCoste, Tayla Slater and Ashley Fredette took first place and Katie Travis, Kira Hitz, Emily Moran, and Kim Reilly took third place and secured the victory for the Falcons.  Samantha Brown and Tara Dwyer combined with O’Connor and Slater for first place in the 200 yard medley relay, and Carline DeCoste and Kaitlyn O’Connor took first in the 100 freestyle and backstroke, respectively.  Tayla Slater also took first place in the 50 and 500 yard freestyles.  The next meet for the girls is this Sunday at URI, beginning at 1:00 PM.

The boys swim team was also victorious against Foxboro, with DR winning virtually every event.  Ryan Johnson and Cory Ross took first in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke, respectively.  The relay team of Jon Eddy, Bryan Tran, Cory Ross and Cailin Hitz took first place in both the 200 medley and 4 by 100 events, while Johnson, Abe Ferreira, Jarrett Cordeiro, Dustin Kindberg and Cody Dyl combined to take second in the 200 medley and freestyle relays. Congratulations to Tayla Slater, Bryan Tran, and Jon Eddy who again took first place in all of their events.    


The DR Hockey team won to New Bedford 7-3. Nick Soares had 3 goals and 3 assists, Curtis Letourneau had 1 goal, 2 assists. Nolan McGovern and Jon Duncan scored 1 goal. Brandyn Botelho had 3 assists. Joey Givens with 1 goal and 1 assist. With a record of 3-4. The next game is this Saturday @ 8:00 in Bourne.

Congratulations to the DR wrestling team for their 33 to 33 tie against Hanover high school last night. Key wins were earned by Dan Johnson, Chris Tito, and Joe Tomellini. The Falcons next home meet will be next Wednesday at 7 o'clock against Bristol Aggie high school-come show your support and get "in-town" bragging rights
