The girl’s swim team lost a close meet to Old Rochester by a score of 90 – 73. Tayla Slater took first place and qualified for Sectionals in the 100 backstroke. She was also first place in the 200 IM. Kaitlin O’Connor took first in the 200 freestyle. She, along with Slater, Meaghan O’Connell, and Caroline DeCoste also took first in the 4 by 100 relay. Tara Dwyer also contributed to second place in the 200 medley relay. DeCoste also took second in the 100 freestyle. Finishing second in the 4 – by – 50 relay were Emily Morin, Kim Reilly, Samantha Brown, and Kira Hitz. Special recognition goes to Holly Wentworth who established a personal record in the grueling 500 yard freestyle.
The boy’s swim team beat Old Rochester but lost to powerhouse Seekonk in a Tri-meet. Bryan Tran finished first in the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke, for which he qualified for Sectionals. Cailin Hitz finished second in the 100 breaststroke and first in the 200 freestyle. Second place finishes were also captured by Jon Eddy in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly and, with Tran, Hitz, and Cory Ross, took second in the 200 medley relay.
