This Week and the Week Ahead

We had our first full week of school and we are off to a great start.  Our staff has reported that this year seems to have a really positive learning culture.  On Wednesday, we hosted approximately 70 parents and students for our first “Meet and Greet” with Administration.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2015 Mr. Braga was invited to the Board of Selectmen’s meeting to discuss our NEASC Accreditation report.  Selectmen Menges and Chairman Cronin both expressed their sincere appreciation and support for the Dighton-Rehoboth staff.  To read the letter from Selectman Menges please click here.
School Resource Officer: On Monday, September 21, the Dighton Board of Selectmen will be discussing the School Resource Officer position for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School.

This year we would like to get your input on the proposal of celebrating DRRHS Graduation on Friday nights. We would like to propose Friday night at 6:30 pm. A rain date will be Saturday at 4:30 pm.  In previous years if it rained on graduation day, we celebrated graduation in doors in the DR gymnasium.  This option excludes family members since space is only limited to 2 seats per graduate.

Here are directions for how to register for parent teacher conferences.
October 8, 2015 11:30-2pm; 6:00-8:30pm
October 15, 2015 6-8:30pm
This is a reminder to all attending sporting and other events at D-R High School.
PARKING: The Dighton Police Department has been receiving complaints on parking at school events. PLEASE PARK IN MARKED PARKING SPACES. Areas have been blocked that would hinder access of EMERGENCY VEHICLES. Failure to parked in proper areas will result in PARKING TICKETS AND OR VEHICLE TOWED AT OWNERS EXPENSE

Senior Slide Show
While it may seem early in the year to begin thinking about the annual production of the senior class slideshow, we are asking seniors and parents/guardians to send along any pictures to the following email address: DRseniorslideshow2016@gmail.com . We are looking for any pictures from the following time periods:
  • Baby Pictures
  • Elementary School Pictures
  • Middle School Pictures
  • High School Pictures
In addition, we are trying to make sure we cover all of the sport teams, fine and performing art events, and all of the seniors highlights over the course of their time in the Dighton-Rehoboth school system. Our goal is to make sure all students are represented and as many events as possible are highlighted. We do need your help to make this goal possible! Please start submitting pictures to this email address at your earliest convenience. As we get closer, we will be sharing our deadline for submission of photos but at this point, the more photographs we get earlier, the better opportunity students have to sort the pictures to make sure it covers the class of 2016 in its entirety!

DR E-BOOK
This Wednesday marked a milestone for the DDRHS Library: we have our first eBook configured in the Follett catalog!
This means that as we continue to grow our e-resource collection here at DR, students will be able to access information remotely from any device…yep, this means phones! Eventually, students will be able to scroll through select book titles from the catalog and open literature simply by clicking the “open” link, and poof! Just like magic, you have a book. This process eliminates the hassle of finding time to physically go to the library—no more excuses! Students may contact the school librarian for access points, usernames and passwords in order to be able to access their online Follett Catalog!
Nurse Announcement:

Due to current guidelines from the Department of Public Health,  we are not currently able to provide Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) ,  Acetaminophen (Tylenol), Calamine, or Antibiotic Ointments (Neosporin),  in the Health Room.. This is temporary, but if you feel that your child may require these over-the-counter remedies in the near future,  you can simply contact your child's pediatrician and have them fax an order to your child's school nurse.  A parent authorization form will need to be signed. A responsible adult must deliver the medication to school (students may not transport it themselves) in the original packaging.

For now, the nurses will treat insect bites with cold water compresses. Simple rashes will have to be taken care of at home by parents.  Cuts and scrapes will be washed with soap and water only, and dry bandages applied.  We will continue to call parents if we feel a child may require Tylenol or Advil or more treatment beyond what we can provide at school.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
