This Week and the Week Ahead

This week we began 2nd quarter and Term 1 grades are now posted on X2.  If you would like a hard copy of your report card, please see Mrs. Shillan in Guidance.  We also commenced on one of our most spirited and long standing traditions; Spirit Week.  With themed days this week, and Senior Appreciation on Monday, and Green and Gold on Tuesday, we are looking forward to working together as a school community.  Last but not least, our food drive concluded today, with the senior class donating over 3,000 non-perishable items for a total of 7,431 items.

In the Classroom:
On Thursday the SAILS program hosted their traditional thanksgiving feast. They were joined by students from TSP and transition as well as classmates from the students inclusion classes.
Staff prepared and created a menu to serve over 30 people. SAILS students helped prepare for the event by learning to fold silverware in napkins, making center pieces and displaying proper place settings.  Before the big event SAILS students participated in yoga.

DR Trail Update:
Junior Noah Avila and volunteers will recommence work on the trail this weekend and next (11/19 & 11/20 // 11/26 & 11/27) from 9am-4pm. On Saturday they will be receiving 20-30 tons of gravel to lay down on the trail and will need as many volunteers as possible to complete the task.  If available, please bring a wheelbarrow, shovel(s), and gloves.
Here are a few things to note in preparation for this project and this upcoming weekend:
  • When: From 9:00 AM-4:00 PM on November 19th and 20th we will be working on the Trail at the high school.
  • Where: We will be meeting at the far left corner of the Senior lot located across from the Rehoboth entrance.
  • What to Bring: Noah recommends that you bring work gloves, a rain jacket (Just in case), work/hiking boots, a water bottle, and a wheelbarrow and shovel if you have them.
  • What to Expect: The majority of volunteers will be helping bring gravel down the trail in an effort to level and create a better trailhead. The remaining personnel will take the trailhead to expose any rocks and stumps that still need to be removed.
  • Snacks and Lunch: Around 12-12:15 PM, they will be serving pizza for the volunteers. Aside that, water and light snacks will be available all day.
Updates
  • There is now a Remind 101 for this project. If you would like to receive text updates on the project (Reminders and Cancellations) please text @drtrail to 81010. This will not spam your phone as there will be minimal texts sent.
  • If anyone has any questions, or needs proof of service hours after volunteering at an event, they should email Noah directly at ndaavila@gmail.com.
