Summer's End

Hey Kids,
As summer comes to a close, I truly hope you had a great summer of relaxation, fun, family and a time to reflect on the upcoming school year!
We have worked hard through the Summer and continue to strive to make your school a place that you are proud of in all aspects of your high school experience.
Dighton-Rehoboth High School prides its self on being a top notch academic and vocational  institution, and is mindful when preparing all of our students to be well rounded as well, in the Arts, Sports, and educational activities.
Please notice when you arrive this year of the new appearance of the tennis courts, Stadium concession stand, the newly painted Quonset Hut.
Some of these steps we've taken may not seem like much, but each year we try and make a difference in our appearance.
Again, welcome back!
You are the DR Difference!

DRRHS Summer Update

Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:
We hope that you are having a great summer filled with a balance of joyful activities and rest that is much needed from a busy school.  Our students continue to demonstrate their excellence in our Advanced Placement courses.  More and more students decide to challenge themselves in Dighton-Rehoboth’s most challenging courses and we continue achieve success.  This year there were 45 additional AP tests and we still increased our % of students receiving a 3, 4, and 5.  Students who score in this range have the opportunity to receive college credit.  This is a great way to save money as a student a few years back graduated from the University of Connecticut a year early due to her AP classes.  We would like to congratulate our students and staff for their continued success!

Freshman Transition Day 4 Finale Recap

For our 4th and final day of Freshman Transition our students felt comfortable opening their lockers and walking their schedules for the final time until the first day of school on Wednesday, September 7th.  Students were opening their lockers on their first try and getting to class in under the 4 minutes that will be allotted during the school year.  As stated before, the was the best group of students we have seen come through Freshman Transition.  Because they bought into our philosophy we were able to accomplish more goals and give them additional supports when necessary.
Prior to our Lip Sync Battles, cohorts practiced for the final time before taking the stage to perform a song of their choice.  All Lip Sync Battles can be found on our Twitter (@DRHighSchool) and we strongly encourage everyone to check each group’s performance!
Noah Avila’s campaign for the 9/11 tribute was completed today.  Our goal for 800 items was not only met, but the Class of 2020 demonstrated their support for our troops with over 1800 items donated!  This was a preview to Spirit Week where we collect goods for local food pantries and donate them to families in need during the holiday season.  If they bring this type of commitment then, not only will they do well in the Spirit Week competition, but our community will again benefit from their generosity.

Next the Class of 2020 writing a letter to themselves to be read in 4 years when they are seniors.  The letters were placed in the time capsule which will be uncovered during the Senior BBQ alongside with other items from this week.
Finally we concluded this week’s transition program with a 10 minute slideshow which can be viewed here.  The slideshow provides a small glimpse of their accomplishments over the last four days.  We are extremely proud of our students, mentors, and advisors for a smooth week.  Students bonded from opposite towns and are beginning to understand the “DR Difference.”
We expressed how the transition program was their foundation to a successful high school career.  We also stressed that our supports did not end today, and we expected to hear from them throughout the school year.  We will meet on a monthly basis to check in with them to ensure they are on track.  We would also like to thank you for your support of the program.  We had 90% of the freshman class attend the program.  We appreciate your flexibility in scheduling your summer activities to accommodate the program.  We are excited to work with your child over the next four years.  Please feel free to reach out to us at anytime.
Have a safe and happy remainder of the summer and we welcome you to the DR Family!
