This Week and The Week Ahead

Good Afternoon Students, Parents, and Community Members:
This week we had a short week, but the students had an abundance of preparation for midterms next week (please see full schedule below).  Student Government will be hosting a study session for the upcoming midterm exams. So grab your friends and study guides and join them on Monday, January 23rd  from 4-6 in the media center. If you plan on attending, please answer this brief survey so we can allocate resources to ensure you are prepared.   Anyone is welcome to join.  If you have any questions, please see Ms. Beckett.
Today, our 45th President Donald J. Trump was inaugurated in our nation’s capital.  President Trump explained his plan for the future, which starts with a “transfer of power, from Washington DC, and giving it back to you, the American people.”  President Trump also stated, This American carnage stops right here and stops right now. We are one nation -- and their pain is our pain. Their dreams are our dreams; and their success will be our success. We share one heart, one home, and one glorious destiny.  The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans.”  To access President Trump’s Inauguration address, please click here.

Senior Acceptances: Each week we will post our senior’s acceptances into prospective colleges, universities, military plans or any career pathway.  We are proud of their accomplishments.  Keep up the great work and continue to represent the “DR Difference.”

Dighton-Rehoboth Little Falcons Preschool: ATTENTION PARENTS OF 3 & 4 YEAR OLDS
Call beginning 2/28/17 to schedule a Preschool Screening for the week of March 6-10th
The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District is scheduling preschool screenings for the 2017-2018 school year. This screening process is for new applicants who live in the towns of Dighton or Rehoboth and who will be at least 3 years of age by August 31, 2017. These screenings serve two purposes. First, students will be eligible to enter the lottery for available openings in the Integrated Preschool Program. This program integrates typically developing children and children in need of special education services through a play centered, interactive, curriculum rich preschool experience. Secondly, the screenings serve to identify students who may need a variety of special education services.
To schedule an appointment for a screening, please call: 508-252- 5069 after 2/28. Calls will be accepted from 12:30 pm – 2:45 pm every weekday. You can also leave a message with the number where you can be reached during that time period.
Screening appointments take place at the Dighton-Rehoboth Preschool Program located at the DRRHS facility, 2700 Regional Road, North Dighton during the week of March 6th to March 10th. A developmental and social skills screening will take approximately 45 minutes. Please provide the following items at the appointment:
● Proof of residency (i.e. recent utility or tax statement, lease or mortgage)
● Child’s original birth certificate or certified copy*
● Driver’s license* *copies will be made.
We look forward to meeting you and your child as part of this process. If you have any questions please reach out to us at the School Department

  • Speech and Debate Team travels to New York City to compete this weekend.  Go Falcons!
  • Music:
    • Tri-County Music Festival:  Over this past weekend, DR hosted the Tri-County Music Festival.
  • Boys Basketball: Overall Record, SCC Record
    • Alec Hart recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds against Seekonk on Tuesday.  Arthur Correira had a career-high with 28 points against Wareham,  Elijah Brewster had 16 points to lead the Falcons to a win at Bishop Connolly.
    • Last Friday, Old Rochester defeated the boys' basketball team 57-32 on Friday night. Elijah Brewster had 11 points for the Falcons.
    • On Wednesday, Seekonk defeated the boys' basketball team 51-45 last night. Alec Hart had 14 points and Chad Mello added 10.
  • Girls Basketball: Overall Record, 6-4  SCC Record 5-3
    • January 19, 2017 As the first half of the basketball season comes to a close, the DR Lady Falcons hold a record of 6-5 and 5-3 in the South Coast Conference.
Leading the way for the Lady Falcons are Senior Tri-Captains Julia Campezato, Sarah Guimond and Grace Harrison.  The leadership these 3 have provided both on and off the court, has been outstanding.  Julia leads the team in scoring, averaging 16 points per game.  Twice this season, Julia has scored 30 points.
Sarah is averaging 8 points a game and has hit 12 three pointers so far this season.
Grace is a 5’2” forward who is the unsung player on this team.  Grace constantly comes up with a big rebound or a great pass to a teammate when needed.
Defensively, Grace plays like she is 6’ tall!!
One of the main goals that the Lady Falcons set for themselves this season is to reach the MIAA State Tournament.
As the second half of the season begins this Friday night at Fairhaven High School, so does their quest to reach that goal.
    • On Wednesday, the girls basketball lost a close game to Seekonk 46-40. Julia Campezato had 22 points, Sarah Guimond had 12 points. Gwyneth Tatton had 18 rebounds and Grace Harrison, 8 rebounds.
  • Cheerleading: DR Cheer Competition will be held here at DR Febuary 11th. Come support our cheerleaders!
  • Ice Hockey: Overall Record Record 3-5-1, SCC Record
    • The DR/ Seekonk hockey team, finally beat the Bourne Canalmen 2-0 after 9 years of a winless record against them, with goals from Matt Mcdonald assisted by Kyle Frias, and a lone goal for Luke Robitialle. Dan Loiselle recorded his 2nd shutout of the season for the Falcons.
  • Boys Track: Overall Record, SCC Record
    • This past Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Center, the Winter Track team competed at the Division 4 relays. The day was a particularly good one for the Falcons as they placed in the upper half in almost every event. More impressive than that, the relay teams for the boys 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800 all qualified for states in February. Girls shot put finished second throwing a combined 92' - 8", and the boys shuttle dash team tied for 3rd overall with a time of 23.11 seconds. Great job Falcons!
