Dr Azar gives Award

We would like to congratulate Erica Duncan on her being the 2018-2019 Superintendent's Award recipient . Erica was recognized for this prestigious award at a Special Luncheon held on the campus of Stonehill College.

Daily Announcements 12-14-18

Shane Mello scored 11 of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Falcons to a hard-fought 50-46 win at Bourne last night. Shayne O’Neil added 13 points and John Marcelle had 12 points.  The Falcons host Bishop Connolly on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Pro Musica and Treble Choir members not in chorus class are reminded to report to the auditorium at 11:15 today for dress rehearsal.

Attention Seniors: If you have a January 1st or 15th deadline you need to go into Naviance and make your transcript requests now! No one is here to send your information over break. Also don't forget to update your counselor when you get a college decision. If you get accepted to a college, please bring a copy of your letters or printed emails into Guidance, so that we can congratulate you, and inform our school community.

Interested in joining the Best Buddies Bowling League? The bowling league meets on Sundays starting on January 6th at 11 a.m. at the Somerset Lanes. The cost will be $50 for ten week of bowling. Please see Mr. Garcia or Ms. Burnham to get a registration form.

Need a last minute gift for that special someone? Come purchase your comfy & cozy candy grams during all 4 lunches starting Monday December 17th. Quantities limited so get them while they last!

Attention seniors, next week is the last call for senior dues to cover a yearbook and cap and gown. Dues will be collected at all 4 lunches Mon-Friday or See your class Adviser Miss Harwood in room 307. After Friday seniors who did not pay dues will have to pay $85 for yearbook and $21 for cap and gown out of pocket.

Underclassmen, yearbooks will remain on sale for $75 but after January 1st, the cost will be $85


Attention all 2018 football players and members of the cheer leading squad; The end os the season banquet is this Sunday December 16th. Doors open at 3:00pm Dinner is served at 4:00pm.   Please bring any uniforms or equipment that hasn't been turned in

Sometimes there's nothing better than a fresh slice of 'za on a Tuesday night. Some like cheese, others peperoni. Maybe you like Hawaiian or buffalo chicken. Whatever your preference, Papa Gino's can suit your tastes. Luckily on Tuesday, December 18th a portion of the sales at the Taunton location will benefit the Winter Track team. Just remember to say that you're with DR whether you dine in, or take out.

The boys’ basketball team opens the 2018-19 season at Bourne tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Anyone interested in taking the ASVAB can sign up in Guidance with Mrs. Shillan. The ASVAB is the most widely used multiple-aptitude test in the world that measures your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The exam will be during the school day on Jan 29th. See your guidance counselor with any questions

There will be a class of 2019 meeting Monday 12/17 in room 307. See Miss Harwood if you cannot attend.

Attention Seniors: If you are interested in being a Team captain for the Citizen Scholarship Foundation for this year's Door to Door Campaign, please pick up a copy of the application from Ms. Shillan in the Guidance Office. The Application is also located on the main page of the High School Website. The Application must be postmarked no later than January 4, 2019. Please see Dr. Tench with any questions you may have about the the Citizen's Scholarship Foundation. The Door to Door Campaign is currently scheduled for March 16-18, 2019,

The Student Government meeting for today has been rescheduled to next Tuesday, Dec. 18.

This is the last week for the Holiday Giving Project which will be ending on Friday! Bring in toys and gifts for families in need every morning to the foyers or to room 108. Please consider donating as we have far fewer toys than last year and would like to make this holiday season cheerful for all the families in need.

The Holiday Giving project is going on now until December 14th. Bring in toys and gifts to the foyers in the morning to get bonus points from participating teachers. Let's help spread some cheer this holiday season. See Ms. Beckett for details.

Are you trying to get into the holiday spirit? Want to do something to give back to your community? Consider volunteering your time for the Salvation Army. They are looking for Bell Ringing volunteers at many close by locations. For more information, see Mrs. Payne in Guidance.

We have two DR Falcon Fan busses heading to Gillette Friday night for the Super Bowl.
Please sign up in the athletic office. First come first served.


Tickets for the Super Bowl are $14 for students and $17 for adults 
Please be at Gillette by 4pm if you plan on buying tickets at the stadium. Tickets are also available through ticket master.

Attention all DECA members, there will be a brief meeting after school today in Media Center Lab 2. Conferences fees, dates of testing, fundraisers will be discussed. Thanksgiving Game Update

DR Football Fans!
With the incoming Arctic Blast forecast for Thursday (-5 degrees wind chill) we have decided to move the game to tomorrow evening at 7 pm. vs Seekonk HS.
Seekonk is in full agreement.
Our field is saturated and will be frozen solid come Thanksgiving morning.
Above all, we are trying to minimize our chances of injury or worse yet frost bite or exposure before the biggest game in decades.
 Wednesday night is also Senior night so we are looking forward to a great night!

The cross country banquet is Tuesday night at 6 pm. Bring all missing uniforms!

The DRRHS Theatre Company will present the high school version of Chicago in April. Open auditions are being held at 2:00 in the auditorium on December 5. Interested students should see Mrs. LaSalle in room 303 to get the audition materials.

Reminder to Seniors: As college acceptances come in please bring a copy of your letters or printed emails to Guidance, so that we can congratulate you, update our records, and inform our school community.

The Division 4 Superbowl will be held on Nov 30 at 5 pm at Gillette Stadium. 
Buy tickets on Ticketmaster on Nov 20. Or at the gate the day of the game.
Tickets are $17 for general and $14 for students and senior citizens. Parking lots open at 4pm and DR sits on the East side. Go Falcons.

All boys’ basketball players must register on familyID before tryouts begin on Monday 11/26.

Any NHS Inductee that did not attend yesterday's meeting MUSt see Mr. Pacheco in room 111 by the end of the day.

A special thank you goes out to the faculty and staff who participated in the Unified Basketball game yesterday. It was a hard fought battle but the Unified Basketball team prevailed. The coaches also would like to thank the team for a successful Unified season.

This is the last call for all Winter Track Swaggy Sock sales. All order forms must be handed in by 2:00pm, so get any last minute sales in today! Please drop off your envelopes to Mr. DeLano in room 126 or Ms. Payne in Guidance. If you did not get a chance to order a pair, but still want one, stop by 126 today for details.

Music students auditioning for Southeast District on Saturday are reminded to meet by 9 am outside the Dighton foyer.

Tickets for the DR Homecoming dance this Saturday night will be on sale today in the cafeteria. We have already sold over 375 tickets. Please make sure to purchase your tickets today.  We can not promise there will be tickets available on Friday.

Best Buddies is holding a video game night on Thursday, Nov. 15th from 5 to 7 p.m. in the media center. Anyone interested in joining Best Buddies is welcome to attend.

For those members who participated in the pie fundraiser, the pies will be distributed after school on Thursday.  Please see Mr. Garcia or Ms. Burnham if you have any questions.


The end of the season soccer meeting will be held on Friday from 2:00-3:00 in Coach Madsen's room. Please make sure you turn in all uniform items including green beans. Voting for 2019 captains will take place.

Spirit Week 2018 kicks off tomorrow with Pajama Day! Put on your coziest PJs and slippers as we begin this year's festivities - please practice good taste (no exposed skin or overly revealing attire). The fun continues on Friday with Safari Day and rolls into Monday with Out of this World Day! Stir up your creativity and may the most spirited class win!

Daily Announcements 11-13-18

CONGRATULATIONS DR FOOTBALL TEAM!!!

The varsity football team beat Milton High School Friday night and clinched the division 4 south sectional championship. The falcons will advance to the diivsion 4 state finals (TBA) held at Gilltette Stadium. Chase Carroll led the way for the Falcons scoring two touchdowns and a 2pt conversion. Harry Pray and Joe Carrera each scored a touch down while Dylan Iodice connected on 2 P.A.Ts. Defensively Carroll had an interception and Riley Munson registered a quarter back sack. Mason Cadorette, Matt Moura Dylan Iodice and Jake Enos all played well. Also a huge shout out to the Falcon's nest and anyone else who braved the elements this past Friday night and cheered us on.

The Falcons will attempt to reclaim the annual Turkey Day championship against arch rival Seekonk on Thanksgiving morning. 


The Boys Soccer Team will have the end of the year meeting on Wednesday after school in room 122. All uniforms are to be handed in to Coach Kulpa or Coach Augusto

Cross country runners will pass in their uniforms and elect captains on Tuesday after school in Room 106.

 Girls Basketball: 
There will be a meeting for anyone interested in trying out for the girls basketball team on Thursday Nov. 15th at 2:00 pm in room 212. Please make every effort to be there. Thank you.

 Attention CTE Students,
our Skills USA. meeting will be held next Monday November 19,2018, directly after school in room 522. Our installation of leaders will be completed at that time. Please mark your calendar to join us.

 Homecoming Dance tickets go on sale today at ALL lunches in the cafeteria

 This week's Leo Club meeting will be held in room 111 after school on Wednesday

 There is a mandatory meeting today after school for all current members of the NHS. Induction, honor bowl, and fund raising will be discussed. If you have any issues see Mr. Pacheco

 The fall play is Thursday and Friday at 6:30. This year's show is Metamorphoses. Tickets are $10.00. The class that buys the most tickets wins 100 Spirit Week points. Currently, the sophomores are winning.

There will be a boy's soccer meeting in Room 122 on Thursday, November 15th immediately after school. All uniforms will be collected.

The boy' and girl's soccer banquet will be held on Monday, November 19th at 6:00 in the cafeteria.

 There will be a brief but mandatory meeting for all Mr. DR contestants on Wednesday, Nov 14th directly after school in room 108.

 
Day one of the can drive is complete and the junior class has taken an early lead with 461 followed by the newcomers --- the freshmen --- with 93. Seniors are currently in third place with 87 and trailing by a long shot the sophomores only brought in 36. Can drive ends on Friday and we currently only have 539 total canned goods --- bring in those cans!

Student government members check in with Ms. Beckett to find out the plans for Saturday's can sort and report to your individual advisors to choose spirit week teams. Freshmen class will meet in room 108.
