It has been an absolutely incredible season for your D-R Falcon Swimmers, folks! At last night’s South Coast Conference meet, D-R records were shattered, MIAA Sectional Tournament qualifying times were achieved and five swimmers are going to the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MEET!!
At the SCC Conference meet, senior Meg Alves finished first in the 50 Yard and 100 Yard Freestyle events. The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Alves, Emma Wheeler, Caroline Enos and Mary Iddings finished first in that relay race. Junior Henry Ciannavei finished first in the 500 Yard Freestyle and senior Jeff Tran finished first in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
Heading to the Sectionals at MIT are Megan Alves in the 50 and 100 Yard Freestyle events and the 200 Free relay team of Alves, Wheeler, Enos and Iddings. For the boys: senior Xavier Byrnes in the 100 Yard Backstroke; Henry Ciannavei in the 200 and 500 Yard Freestyle events, the 200 Yard Individual Medley and the 100 Yard Butterfly; Jeff Tran in the 50 Yard Freestyle, the 100 Yard Butterfly and the 100 Yard Backstroke. The team of Byrnes, Ciannavei, Tran and senior Owen Conti will compete in the 200 Yard Medley and the 400 Yard Freestyle relays.
Swimmers with their tickets punched for the State Championship at Boston University are Meg Alves, Xavier Byrnes, Henry Ciannavei, Jeff Tran and Owen Conti!
And, guess what folks….
WE AIN’T DONE YET!
The Falcons have one more meet to go when we go head-to-head with our ancient foe: Seekonk.
Due to last Tuesday’s snow, we are swimming against the Warriors tomorrow at 1:30 PM at Seekonk High. Admission is free- come out and cheer the Falcons and propel them to VICTORY!!
