ATTENTION SENIORS: A representative from Massasoit Community College will be at D-R on Thursday, February 28th for an on-site acceptance day. If you are interested in attending Massasoit, please pick up an application in Guidance this week. All application fees will be waived. Appointment times are limited, so please sign up as soon as possible.

Congratulations to the DR Mock Trial team that won yesterday's very tough trial against Case High School. The team now advanced to the sweet 16 round! The entire team did a fantastic job against a tough judge and a formidable defense by Case. Outstanding performances go to Alexa Goyette with her opening statement and Caitlin Correia with her closing statement. Good luck DR Mock Trial!

Great job last night by our students that volunteered at last nights soup kitchen. We served over 100 people on a cold night. Also a special thank you to Mr Kulpa Mr Garcia and Coach Maclagan for their assistance as well.

Attention to all students that have volunteered for today's soup kitchen, please be at the Frst Baptist church no later than 4;45. If you haven't done so already bring your signed permission form to the church. We will be done by 5:45.

Congratulations to Molly Torres and Chris Hoskins, who were accepted to the Massachusetts All-State Chorus. They auditioned against the top vocalists from all 5 districts in the state, and will performing in concert at Symphony Hall in Boston in March.

 Attention NHS students there is a mandatory meeting in the cafe after school on Thursday. All members are expected to attend.

DRS Hockey lost at home Saturday night to Bourne 6-2.  DR's Mike Agresti scored (1) goal assisted by Zach Evans.  Dan DeRoche totaled 46 saves.

DRS Hockey squeezed out a win Sunday afternoon in Boston beating O'Bryant 4-3.  DR's Freshman Ryan McCarthy scored his first Varsity goal in the 1st period.  Peter Anghinetti had (2) assists and Wyatt Nastar had (1) assist.  Dan DeRoche saw 25 shots in the game.  

Come support DRS Hockey Wednesday night 1/30 at home @ NESV 5pm against Somerset!  There will also be a JV game following @ NESV 8:30pm.

Daily Announcements 1-25-19

There is a brief student government meeting on Tuesday after school in room 108. Please see Ms. Beckett if you cannot attend.

 Attention ALL Varsity and JV basketball players. Please report to The Media Center immediately after school today for a meeting with Mr Kelley.

DRS hockey lost to Greater New Bedford Wednesday night 3-2.  All 3 of New Bedford's goals were in the first period and DRS was able to close the gap with (2) goals by Peter Anghinetti and (1) assist by Malachi Letourneau.  DRS lost earlier in the season to New Bedford 9-2.  Come cheer on our hockey team Saturday night vs Bourne @ 6pm @ New England Sports Village.  

The following students need to submit their guest photo ID's for winter ball. Jade Lowe, Angel Correira, Ben Cabral, and Jillian Wilson. Please see Miss Harwood in 307 with any questions. Guests will not be allowed in the dance, next Friday, without approved photo ID.

Daily Announcements 1-24-19

Today is the last day for Girls Lacrosse Winter Leaguse sign ups. Any girls interested in participating must see Coach Smith in room 503 to sign up by the end of the school day today. All are welcome, no matter the level of experience.

The Falcons stunned Apponequet with a hard-fought 66-52 victory on Tuesday night. T.J. D’Ambrosio led a balanced scoring attack with 15 points, Shane Mello had 11, Shayne O’Neil 10, John Marcille 9, while Ishmael Christmas and Calvin Reddington added 8 each.

Need to recover from midterm? Come and join the Spanish Club at El Mariachi in Taunton this Monday, the 28th at 5:00. The cost is $11, and we must have a head count ASAP! Sign up in homerooms or with Señora de Aguiar.

Old Rochester earned a hard-fought 62-53 win over the Falcons on Friday. Shane Mello had 17 points while John Marcille added 14 and TJ D’Ambrosio added 13.

There will be an exciting boys’ game against Apponequet here at DR tonight @ 6:30.

Attention students, several winter ball guest contracts are still missing photo IDs. These must be turned in ASAP or guests will not be allowed in. See miss Harwood with questions.

Students: If you do not have a 2nd exam for the day you can be dismissed at 9 o'clock. You cannot be dismisssed during the exam once in class.

DRS Hockey tied Wareham/Carver Wednesday night 2-2.   Dan DeRoche in net had 28 saves and DR's Emily Duffy had a goal.  Join us Saturday night as DRS plays Apponequet @ 5pm @ Driscoll Arena in Fall River

Attention Portuguese I students please bring your Euro Sheets to Mrs de Aguiar in Room 132 as soon as possible.

 Any girls interested in playing on the Lacrosse winter league at Forekicks starting on January 25th, must see Coach Smith in room 503 to sign up by the end of the day Wednesday, January 23rd.

Best Buddies will be holding a Movie Night in the auditorium on Tuesday, January 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. New members are welcome to attend.

Senior Bio’s.

Attention Seniors & Senior Parents,
Just a reminder that we currently have only 116 bio's out of a class of 208 seniors.  The yearbook staff is working hard to finalize the senior pages and we would really like to have everyone's bio's so that there is not an empty space below your photo in the yearbook.
I reopened the portal for the senior bio (see link below) and I need anyone who has not completed this yet to submit their bio by THIS MONDAY 1/21/19.  It's a long weekend, so take the time to get this important piece of your high school memory for the yearbook.  After this date, we will be closing the portal and we cannot add any more bio's after that time.   Link is below....
Please let Mrs. Tremblett know if you want a paper version or if you need any help, please don't hesitate to come by.  Also, please make sure that you have submitted your photo.  
Lastly, all dues collections have ended and there are still many seniors who did not submit class dues.  You are not required to pay class dues, but please note that if you don't pay class dues and you DO want a yearbook, the cost is now $85 and you need to order online through Jostens or through Mrs. Tremblett.  Also, if you did not pay your class dues, you will also have to submit $21 to Mrs. Stahowiak at the end of the year for your cap and gown payment.  If you paid your dues, both of those have been taken care of for you so you are all set.

PCC

PCC -  Project Contemporary Competitiveness (PCC) was presented to students during freshman presentations last month.   PCC is a four or six-week summer advanced studies program offered on the Stonehill College campus. PCC is entering its 51st consecutive year boasting more than 22,000 alumni. The purpose of PCC is to provide an intellectually enriching, socially stimulating, affordable residential summer program in a friendly, supportive learning environment for students entering grades 8-10. The program is staffed by full-time program directors, resident directors, floor leaders and college students. There is also an instructional staff consisting of college professors, public and private school teachers. Students will select two classes from a variety of course offerings that they will attend in the morning session. Applications are now available at PCC onlineThe scholarship applications from the PCC Alumni Organization and PCC will be on their website www.pccasp.org February 15, 2019 for parents requesting financial aid.  Additional scholarships may be available through PCC.
The 2019 program dates are Sunday, June 30-Saturday, August 10, 2019 and the cost this year is $2,050 (4-week) / $2,650 (6-week) with an additional $25 application fee. Limited scholarships are available.

DRS Hockey


1/12/19 DRS Hockey upsets Old Rochester 5-3 

For the first time in the history of the Co-op, DR-Seekonk beat ORR Saturday night.  DRS took a 2-1 lead after one period and led 4-2 going in to the third period.  Dan DeRoche totaled 26 saves.  Two goals scored by Malachi Letourneau.  Wyatt Nastar assisted for (2) goals.      

Home game Wednesday 1/16/19 @ 7:30 @ NESV, Commerce Way, Attleboro, MA.  Come support DRS hockey!

DR Basketball Clam Boil

Tickets are available for the DR Boys and Girls Basketball clam boil fundraiser on Saturday, Jan 19 at the Seekonk Rod and Gun Club in Rehoboth!  Doors open at 6PM and dinner will be served at 7PM.  Tickets are $30.00 for all you can eat, BYOB (water and soda will be sold).  Raffles will include a variety of gift baskets and silent auction for Boston Celtics tickets.  All proceeds go to the basketball program!  For tickets, please contact a player this week.

There will be a peer leaders meeting today, January 14th after school in room 108. Please see Ms. Beckett if you cannot attend.

There will be a mandatory student government meeting on Tuesday. All members must attend as we will be taking yearbook photos, so please arrive on time.

Anyone interested in volunteering to work at this year’s soup kitchen which will be held at the First Baptist Church in Fall River on Tuesday January 29th , may sign up in room 115. You will be required to have a signed parent permission form which you may obtain when you sign up. See Mr. Moura if you have any questions. Community service hours will be allotted for those who attend.

Attention Juniors and Seniors : If you are interested in taking the ASVAB test. please sign up in Guidance. It is a free career inventory that will be given on Jan 29th. See your counselor with any questions

Need a place to study for midterms? Need help organizing your materials and study plan for the upcoming exams? On Tuesday, January 15th from 4-6 pm the media center will be open for group study sessions. There will be free food provided - so bring your study materials and ace your exams!

Attention students, the last day to turn in guest contracts for the winter ball are this friday. Please turn them into Miss Harwood in room 307 or to the main office.

Teachers will be on the lookout for students who demonstrate the school's core values. Go above and beyond to earn a DRX award!

Attention Students:
Project Hope will be collecting items for the local animal shelters. Items such as blankets, used or new, cat or dog food, toys, leashes and cleaning supplies. These items can be dropped off to Guidance to Ms. Donahue or with Ms. Pimento in Room 105. We will be collecting until February vacation starts.


Attn: Faculty and students.........for students to use the library during lunch, they need a pass from a faculty member or administrator.

 Attention students, the winter ball will be held at the Venus DeMilo on Friday, Feb 1st. Tickets will be on sale for $25, during all 4 lunches and in the morning in the cafeteria from Monday Jan 7th- Friday Jan 11th. If you are taking an outside guest, guest contracts must be submitted and approved no later than Friday Jan 18th (no exceptions). Please see Miss Harwood in room 307 with any questions.

There will be a mandatory DECA Meeting for anyone attending next week's District 2 DECA Competition Field Trip after school today, Thursday in Media 2 lab. Field trip forms are due and dress code and other important topics will be discussed. Anyone who is not able to attend, please contact Mr. Cowgill by the end of the day Friday.

Wareham earned a hard-fought 69-61 win over the Falcons last night. Shane Mello had 22 points to lead the scoring while John Marcille added 19.

The Best Buddies Bowling League is scheduled to start this Sunday at the AMF Bowling Lanes in Somerset at 11 a.m. It's not too late to join. Please see Mr. Garcia or Ms. Burnham for details.
