Daily Announcements 9-27-19

Attention all former DECA members. There will be a brief meeting after school on Tuesday, Oct 1st in Mr. Cowgill's classroom, Room 219. A full DECA meeting with be held the following Tuesday, Oct 8th for new and old members in the Media Center. Please reach out to Mr. Cowgill if you have any questions or can not attend the meeting.

The Golf Team completed a perfect 3 win week and gave Coach Cute an early birthday present with yesterday's 152 to 133 win over Somerset-Berkley. Peter Torres continued to lead the team, as he scored a season high 34 points. Ben Horowitz continued his excellent play, contributing 26 points. Mitch Bushell (24 points), Harry Taraian (23 points) and Peter Anghinetti and Sam Watts completed the scoring with 20 points each.

There will be a student government meeting with all members on Monday, September 30. See Ms. Beckett before the meeting if you cannot attend.

There will be a Peer Leaders meeting on Tuesday, October 1st after school in room 108. Peer leaders are members of our school that are positive role models with leadership skills that volunteer in our school and help to organize events such as Holiday Giving Project, Talent Show, Pennies for Patients and more! See Ms. Beckett if you have any questions.

There will be an informational meeting for all those interested in joining the spirit week committee on Tuesday, October 1st in room 114 immediately after school. See Mr. DeLano in room 114 for more details.

Daily Announcements 9-26-19

On Wedensday, October 2nd, the Chemistry Club will hold it's first meeting in room 222 at 2:00. All are welcome.

There will be an informational meeting for all those interested in joining the spirit week committee on Tuesday, October 1st in room 114 immediately after school. See Mr. DeLano in room 114 for more details.

 Peter Anghinetti and Ben Horowitz, along with Peter Torres, combined for 83 points as the Golf Team defeated Case yesterday by a score of 148 to 122. Mitch Bushell (23 points) and Andrew Machado (22 points) and Harry Taraian (20 points) completed the scoring. The 7 and 3 Falcons meet Somerset-Berkley today.

Attention current members of the the NHS we will have our first meeting today in room 111 right after school

 Anyone interested in joining Best Buddies and all current Best Buddies members should stop by the Best Buddies table during their lunch today to register with Best Buddies on-line. Also, please pick up a fundraising form which will help support our annual bowling league. Please see Mr. Garcia or Ms. Burnham if you have any questions.

The boys soccer team defeated Old Rochester yesterday. Goals were scored by Matt Duarte, Kevin Smith and Reece Cordeiro. The team travels to Case on Monday. Practice will run from 2:15- 4:00 on the JV field.

 Despite playing thier best game of the season, the Girls varsity soccer team sufferd a tough 6-4 loss to Old Rochester yesterday. Julianna DaCosta scored twice for the falcons while Lexie Menzes and Julia Tavares each scored once. Ella Damon and Emily D'Ambrossio played well defensively. The girls take on New Bedford away on Saturday.

The JV Girls soccer team tied Old Rochester 2-2 yesterday. Tasha Ponte scored both goals while Sam Santos had an assist. Sam Malloy played excellent in the midfield. Good job girls!

The DR Cross Country team took on Somerset Berkley yesterday here at home. The girls' team ran away with the meet defeating the Raiders soundly, 20-35. Top finishers were Isabel Murdock, Avery Thompson, Kiara Abrantes, Molly Walsh, and Kristin Corvi. The boys' team lost by the tiebreaker but had very strong performances. Alex Violette finished first and Jason Ruta came in second. Both teams take on Fairhaven next week. Great job Falcons!

Attn: students: School Picture day is Monday, October 7th.

 All seniors, we need your help... please consider joining the yearbook staff to help design this year's yearbook. We currently have no seniors signed up to help and with not enough assistance, the yearbook could be delayed. 

 A reminder that there is an organizational meeting for the Portuguese Club today after school in room 122. Any student interested should attend.
Obrigadoreach out to Mrs. Tremblett with any questions or to sign up. 

Led by Ben Horowitz's season best 29 points, the Golf Team improved its record to 6 and 3 with yesterday's 114 to 59 win over Voke. captain Dillan Walsh and Harry Taraian tallied 20 points each, followed by Mitch Bushell (18 points) and Peter Torres (16 points). Peter Anghinetti and Jack Goulart, who was making his first start, completed the scoring with 11 points each.

There will be a brief robotics meeting right after school today in room 402.

The boys soccer team defeated Bourne yesterday 4-3. Kevin Smith scored 2 goals while Jordan Fernandes and Hunter Brierly netted the last two. Next game is home vs. Old Rochester tomorrow. Practice will run from 2:15-4:00 on the JV field.

The girls varsity soccer team defeated Bourne yesterday by a score of 9 - 1. Both Caroline Reed and Julianna DaCoasta scored 3 goals a piece for the double hat tricks while Alyson Rego, Emily D'Ambrossio and Lily Nees each scored one. Bella LaBree, Ashley Damon and Brenna Doehler all played well defensively. The gilrs are on the road tomorrow against Old Rochester.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Representatives from Community College of the Air Force, Community College of Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Dean College, McGill University, and Wentworth Institute of Technology will be visiting next week. Interested students may sign up in advance in the Guidance Center. Sign-ups will not be allowed the day of the college visit.

The girls varsity soccer team lost to Bishop Feehen on Friday. The girls take on Bourne today at home.

Attention Leo Club, this week's meeting will be held Wednesday after school in room 111. New members are always welcome.

 The JV girls soccer team lost a hard fought battle at home against Bishop Feehan on Friday. Marina DePalo and Tasha Ponte assisted on a goal by Kaitlin Rau for the Lady Falcons. Eliana Raposo played excellent in goal, making 23 saves to keep the team in the game. The girls next play today at home vs. Bourne.

 Attention students going to Rome and Sicily .... If you have not confirmed with me already regarding your passport status please see me in room 512. If you do not have a passport yet, you need to get that paperwork sent in before the end of this month. Please also make sure that your passport does not need to be renewed within the six months prior to our departure.
If anyone is still interested in travelling to italy this spring there are still spots available. For more information please see either Ms. Tache or Ms. delRosso

Attention freshmen volleyball players, practice is cancelled for today. we will practice tomorrow at 8am. Varsity volleyball players should report to the gym at 2pm for practice
