Daily Announcements 11/27/19



The Theatre Company will begin holding auditions for Little Shop of Horrors on December 5. Students may sign up to audition on the Theatre Company Google classroom or see Mrs. LaSalle in room 303.

Best Buddies will be holding a movie night on Tuesday, November 26th in the auditorium from 6 to 7:30 p.m. We will be screening "The Peanut Butter Falcon". The Peanut Butter Falcon is an adventure story set in the world of a modern-day Mark Twain tale that begins when Zak, a young man with Down syndrome, runs away from the nursing home where he lives to chase his dream of becoming a professional wrestler.

There will be a mandatory Boys Lacrosse meeting at 6:30 on Wednesday, December 4th. The meeting will be for all current, new, interested players and parents.
Jazz band rehearsal is today from 2-3.

There will be a peer leaders meeting directly after school in room 108.

Congratulations to Vanessa DoCouto on her acceptance to Dean College and Regis College. YAHOO!!

Attention NHS members, there will be a brief but mandatory meeting after school Wednesday, December 4th after school in the cafeteria.

Today is the last day for Penny Wars at all four lunches.

There will be a student government meeting right after school to deliver the remaining canned goods to Dighton Middle School. Anyone that would like to help is welcome!


There will be a peer leaders meeting on Tuesday in room 108. Please bring your 20 emails for our upcoming fundraiser.

Here are the highly anticipated can drive results: Senior class came in first place with 8178 points, juniors trailed with 4624, sophomore brought in 834 points, and freshmen came in with 332. And that's a new record bringing in a total of 10, 144 non-perishable food items. Thanks to everyone for making this year a huge success!

Congratulations to this month’s High Five Club recipients! Each month we recognize 4 senior students who have consistently put forth exemplary efforts in the classroom, on the stage, athletic fields or in the community. This month we recognized Emma Conti, Evan Gleason, Shane Mello, and Meghan Reed. If you see them in the hallways be sure to give them a high five!

The teams for Spirit Week events are currently posted outside the cafeteria. Also, the class colors for tomorrow's theme day are as follows: Freshman will wear neon green, Sophomores orange, Junior's highlighter yellow and Seniors and staff will wear pink.

Starting today we will be selling custom DR socks and headbands at clearance prices. You can get either item for $6 or get both items for $10. Make sure to stop by the table in the cafeteria during all lunches!

There will be a mandatory DECA meeting for anyone attending District 2 Competitions in January 2020. Mr. Cowgill will be finalizing event list and registration by the end of the Day Thursday. If you are not able to attend, you must see Mr. Cowgill before the end of the day Thursday to ensure you are registered, membership forms are received and proper events have been selected for your competition. No changes or adds are allowed after Thursday's deadline. Hope to see everyone at the meeting. It should not last more than 30 minutes.

Tickets are now on sale for the fall play. This year's show is Almost Maine. The show is November 21 and 22 at 6:30. The cost is $10.00 each. The class that purchases the most tickets receives 100 Spirit Week Points.

FamilyID will be reopened until Midnight, Wednesday, November 20th. It will not be opened again for Winter Sports. Please make sure you sign up by this deadline.

The totals from yesterday's can drive count were Seniors showing up with 158, Juniors trailing a bit with 126, sophomores brought in 58 and freshmen have 24 canned goods. That brings our total school tally up to 306 without bonus points. Dr. Gould has challenged that if we break the record he will shave his head at the pep rally... so bring in those canned goods! Can drive ends on Friday.

Congratulations to Amy Nickerson on her acceptance to Johnson & Wales University. YAHOO!!

The Unified Basketball Team overcame a half time deficit and edged out a competitive Staff squad in the final basketball game of the season. The team would like to thank the staff for their support as well as Shayne O'Niell, Shane Mello and Brandon Bourgault for helping officiate all the home games this season.

Attention all boys’ basketball players: you must register on familyID no later than November 15.

Sign ups are going on now for the Falcon 5k on November 16th! Please pick up a form in room 108 or see Ms. Beckett with questions.

Homecoming Dance tickets will be on sale again this Friday in the cafe at all lunches with Mr Kelley.
Tickets will also be on sale everyday next week as well.
Please be advised that we do have a sell out limit and you should buy your tickets sooner than later.
We turned many away quite a few last year. If you have any questions see Mr. Kelley.

Attention Winter Sport Athletes!
Family ID is open right now and will remain open until November 15th
Please make sure your physicals are up to date in order to tryout for your particular sport.
These are both mandatory actions in order to participate

Attention NHS Inductees. Forms for the induction ceremony are due to Mr. Pacheco by Friday.

Attention all DECA and Marketing students attending the UMass Dartmouth field trip, all signed permission forms must be turned into Mr. Cowgill by the end of the day Tuesday. Fieldtrip is capped at first 20 permission forms submitted. See Mr Cowgill in room 219 if you need an extra form or have questions.

Do you like to run, jump and throw heavy objects? If you answered yes, you should attend the informational meeting for Winter Track on Tuesday, November 12th immediately after school in the cafeteria. Please see either Coach DeLano if you have any questions.

There will be an informational meeting for any student interested in starting a American Sign Language Club at DR. The meeting will be Wednesday after school in room 122. All are welcome.

Any girl who would like to play basketball this winter but was unable to make the meeting yesterday, should stop by room 111 to get information from Coach Pacheco

The Unified Basketball team wrapped up their regular season yesterday but splitting a pair of games versus rival Seekonk. The day was highlighted by excellent defense and strong team play. A special thank you goes out to the cheer leading squad, the marching band and the fans in the stands for their support during the home games this season. The team will be competing in the Regional Jamboree at Somerset Berkley next Wednesday.

Congratulations to Cam LeBlanc, Matt Duarte and Marshall Morgado on being selected as 2020 Boys Soccer captains. A special thank you to Steve Morgado and Jordan Fernandes on being fantastic 2019 boys soccer captains.

The Girls Soccer end of the Season meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14th after school in Coach Madsen's room, room 304. All uniforms and green beans must be washed and turned in at this time. There is a meeting today at 2:30 in room 111 for any girl who is interested in playing basketball this winter.

The Girls Varsity Soccer Team lost 3-2 in a battle of the wills yesterday against #2 seeded Dover-Sherborn. The game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation and went into two scoreless 10 minute sudden death periods. Ultimately the game came down to penalty kicks and D-R fell a bit short. Congratulations to the girls on a spectacular season!!!

Attention Portuguese Club menbers. You are reminded that you must let Mr. Augusto know if you will be going on the outing tonight to Taunton Eagles, We need to send a count to the restaurant. Be at the restaurant at 5:50

There will be a Peer Leaders meeting on Wednesday, November 6th in room 108. New members are welcome to attend, please see Ms. Beckett if you have any questions or cannot attend.

There will be an end of the year boy's soccer meeting on Wednesday, November 6th in Room 122 immediately after school. Uniforms will be collected at this time.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: Representatives from Westfield State University, University of Rhode Island, UMass Dartmouth, Worcester State University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and University of New Haven will be visiting this week. Interested students may sign up in advance in the Guidance Center. Sign-ups will not be allowed the day of the college visit.

The football team lost a hard fought battle to Nauset Friday night 28-21. Ishmael Christmas, Brady Walsh and Miguel Garcia scored touchdowns for the falcons, while Adam Pereira connected on all 3 kickoffs. Defensively caleb Newman and Wes MacQuillan led the team in tackles.

The The falcons will host Dartmouth this Friday.

Anyone interested in playing varsity, JV, or freshman boys’ basketball should report to an organizational meeting in room 115 on Thursday at 2 p.m.

The Unified Basketball Team had an impressive team performance versus Dartmouth on Tuesday. The team will be wrapping up its regular season with a pair of home games versus rival Seekonk on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Show your support by packing the gym and cheering on the team.
