Daily Announcements 12/20/19

Congratulations to this month's High Five Club recipients: Holly Masciarelli, Steven Morgado, Talia Vicente, and Talha Zia! These senior students have exemplified what it means to be the DR difference with their achievements on the field, in the classroom and in the community. If you see them in the halls be sure to give them a high five!

Daily Announcements 12/19/19



The Portuguese Club winter coat drive continues this week. Please bring any coats to room 122. Thank you.

Attention Spanish Club Members. This Thursday the 19 of December our meeting will be right after school in room 132. Come and join us to sing Christmas carols.

The next Best Buddies event is scheduled for Thursday 12/19 after school from 2 to 3 p.m. in the cafeteria. We will be making holiday ornaments. New members are welcome to attend.

Also, Best Buddies members who plan to participate in the bowling league should return bowling permission forms to either Mr. Garcia or Ms. Burnham as soon as possible. Bowling starts Sunday, Jan 5 at the Somerset Lanes.

DRS Hockey played a hard-fought game against Attleboro but losing 3-1. Freshman Noah Bastia scores DR’s only goal assured by Wyatt Naster.
Next began at home is December 21st against Wareham/Carver at the New England Sports Village at 5pm.

Winter Ball Tickets go on sale on Friday, January 3rd and will run through Friday, January 10th.
Tickets are $25.00 each and will be held at the Venus diMilo. 7-10pm

The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to ring the bell with the kettles at local stores. If you are interested in participating in meaningful community service this holiday season, you can obtain more details in Guidance.

Do not miss tonight’s season-opening boys’ basketball game against Bourne here at DR tonight at 6:30 p.m.

Shane Mello had 19 points while Shayne O’Neil added 12 to lead the Falcons to a hard-fought 46-39 win over Bourne in front of a raucous crowd last night. Chaz DisSanto had 12 rebounds.

The Portuguese Club will be sponsoring the annual Winter Coat Drive starting December 9th through December 20th. We will take lightly used adult or children's coats and donate them to St. Vincent DePaul for distribution to area families who are in need. Please look in your closets for any coats you will no longer use and bring them to room 122. Please see Mr. Augusto or club members with any questions. Thank you for your generosity.

The Theatre Company will begin holding auditions for Little Shop of Horrors on December 5. Students may sign up to audition on the Theatre Company Google classroom or see Mrs. LaSalle in room 303.

Attention all DECA Members. There will be a meeting in room 219 after school on Thursday. Testing prep materials will be available for all members competing at Districts in January. Mandatory in school testing will be on Thursday, December 11th during 5th and 6th blocks. Come see Mr. Cowgill to obtain an in-school field trip form for the 11th's testing date. Email or see Mr. Cowgill if you have any questions.

Daily Announcements 12/2/19

The football team concluded the 2019 season with a victory over Seekonk this past Thanksgiving 27-20. Jaren Ramos caught two touchdown passes, while Ishamel Christmas and Aiden Botelho each caught touchdown passes. John Marciel was awarded the The annual Most Valuable Player a award for throwing four touchdown passes and completing 10 of 16 passes while the Falcons converged on 320 yards of total offense. Defensively Alec Bilodeau and Caleb Newman led the team in tackles, Bilodeau forced a key fumble which was recovered by Aiden Botelho to seal the game.

On behalf of the coaches and players we would like to the administration, including Mr Kelley for their support this season. Also a special shut out goes out to the Falcon Nest,,, Thank you for your support

Pro Musica rehearsals this week are today(Monday) and Thursday from 2-3. Jazz Band rehearsal is tomorrow (Tuesday) from 2-3.

All boys’ basketball players should report for tryouts at 2 p.m. today.

Tryouts for girls basketball begin today at 5pm. Any girl trying out should be back to the school in later than 4:45pm.
